The policy of Suraksha is to provide safe systems of work and global standards for training and certification services offered to marine, offshore and aviation industry. We also provide our services for marine and offshore manpower, marine management, engineering and maintenance as required by the Global Offshore Oil & Gas Industry.
Our principal efforts are towards sustaining a quality driven, economical, efficient and effective operation whilst meeting the standard requirements of ISO 9001, IMO, STCW’ 75 (as amended) and the internationally accredited OPITO Standards. These Standards are globally accepted by the industry and ehance the work skill.

A Legacy of Excellence in Maritime and Offshore Training
Suraksha Marine’s journey began with Capt. S. K. Sinha, a maritime pioneer whose career and vision redefined safety training standards in India and globally. Starting as a seafarer in 1983 after training at T. S. Rajendra, Mumbai, Capt. Sinha sailed with global giants like the Shipping Corporation of India and Teekay Corporation, later taking on critical safety roles on offshore oil and gas platforms.
He achieved his Extra Masters degree awarded by M.O.S.T. Govt. of India, which is the highest qualification in marine industry, a pre-requisite for appointment as Nautical Advisor to Govt. of India, and transitioned to shore as a Nautical professor at L.B.S. College, Mumbai, allowed him to educate generations of Indian seafarers of the highest ranks such as Master, Extra Master, Mates, etc., imparting expertise in navigation and various subjects of the international and national maritime industry.
Recognizing the need for standardized training in India during a period of industry reform, Capt. Sinha founded Suraksha Marine in 1991 as a Directoratre General of Shipping approved Maritime Training Institute. His collaboration with the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and Indian authorities led to the adoption of STCW'75 (as amended), revolutionizing training quality for seafarers working under various Indian and other international flags. In 2005, a Senior executive from a global energy company Shell, disguised as a learner visited the training center. Impressed by Suraksha’s Helicopter Underwater Escape Training (HUET), he proposed a partnership to introduce OPITO-accredited courses in India.
This pivotal moment led to Suraksha to become the first and only OPITO-approved training center in 2009, introducing programs like BOSIET with EBS and setting new benchmarks for offshore safety in India.
Today, Suraksha Marine offers over 25 OPITO-approved courses, alongside DGS, DGCA-approved and other industry recognised and approved training programs, attracting learners from various countries like India, UK, Scotland, Netherlands, Egypt and beyond, to learn and flourish in their careers as top tiered working offhsore personnel
First and only OPITO Center in India with an approval to deliver certain advanced OPITO approved training courses like BOSIET / BOSIET DD/ HUET/ FOET with CA-EBS, Shallow Water CA-EBS IDT, OERTM Initial and Further trainings in India. No other institute in India are yet delivering these courses.

Founded by Captain Sinha, our journey began with a shared dream, which was to create a training organization that prioritizes in safety, innovation, and excellence in the oil and gas industry.
The Spark of Inspiration
Captain Sinha, a master mariner with over 50 years of experience in maritime and offshore operations, witnessed first-hand the critical need for robust safety training. Having managed countless helicopter operations and emergency drills on offshore rigs internationally, he saw the gaps in traditional training methods and gaps in offshore personnel skill development in India, that could mean the difference between safety and disaster.
Mrs. Vatsala Sinha, his wife shared his vision and together, they founded Suraksha Marine to bridge these gaps, combining practical offshore experience with cutting-edge educational approaches.

From our humble beginnings, Suraksha Marine has grown into a global leader in OPITO-approved training. We started with a single mission: to ensure highest standards and quality of training and certifications and the vision to make every offshore worker equipped with the skills and needed knowledge to navigate the industry’s toughest challenges, which is emergency preparedness and maintaining the safety behaviours for living and working offshore.
Over the years, we’ve expanded our offerings to include more than 25 comprehensive OPITO approved courses, covering everything from actions to take during H2S gas emergencies to Offshore Emergency Response Team Member (OERTM) training. Our state-of-the-art training centre, and facilities equipped with advanced helideck models, smoke rooms, advanced fire fighting mock ups and sea survival equipment and technologically advanced helicopter simulators and rescue winches, has become the hub for skill learning for professionals working offshore worldwide.
