Why Digital Delivery?
Learn the knowledge first. Use the centre for competence.
Digital Delivery changes how the underpinning knowledge is introduced, not the practical competence that must ultimately be demonstrated.
The learner completes the approved online programme before attending the training centre. At the centre, theoretical understanding is verified and practical competence is demonstrated using the required equipment, survival facilities and simulated emergency environments.
Understand it. Practice it. Perform it.

FORMAL ASSESSMENT
What Does Product 5703 Develop?
The course is designed to prepare learners for the fundamental hazards and emergency situations associated with offshore work.
Learners develop the ability to identify generic offshore hazards, understand how risk is controlled, recognise the basic offshore regulatory and safety-management framework, prepare for helicopter emergencies, use rebreather EBS equipment, escape following ditching, survive after evacuation, provide immediate first aid and respond to fire and smoke-affected environments.
IS 5703 Right For you?
Helicopter emergency training for personnel travelling offshore with EBS.
The Product requires the learner to attend the approved centre for formal assessment within 90 days of completing the online elements.

Four Mandatory Units
01 — OIS-69
Safety Induction — Digital Delivery
30 minutes
Learners are introduced to the offshore oil and gas environment, including typical drilling, production, construction, accommodation and specialist-vessel operations. The unit develops awareness of major offshore hazards such as pressure systems, moving machinery, chemicals and H₂S, electrical energy, suspended loads, working at height, hazardous atmospheres and confined spaces.
The unit also explains how these risks are controlled through Safe Systems of Work, Personal Responsibility for Safety, safety observations, the hierarchy of controls, isolation, PPE and Permit to Work. Learners gain an introduction to offshore legislation, Safety Case principles, safety-critical systems, ALARP, welfare, communication, drills and incident reporting.

02 — OIS-70
Helicopter Safety and Escape — EBS — Digital Delivery
3 hours 15 minutes
This unit prepares learners for routine offshore helicopter travel and emergency response. It covers pre-flight procedures, aviation transit suits, lifejackets, restraints, brace positions, helicopter flotation, emergency exits, push-out windows, aviation liferafts and rebreather EBS principles. Learners also understand how EBS duration and flotation characteristics can affect emergency response in the water.
Practical training progresses from EBS integrity checks and dry deployment to pool familiarisation and HUET. Learners practise dry evacuation, partial-submersion escape and capsize exercises with and without EBS and push-out-window operation, before completing post-egress actions including lifejacket inflation, spray-visor deployment and aviation-liferaft boarding.
03 — OIS-71
Sea Survival and First Aid — Digital Delivery
2 Hours 30 Minutes
Learners develop an understanding of offshore evacuation and survival arrangements, including station bills, alarms, muster locations, escape routes, temporary refuge, abandonment systems, search and rescue, TEMPSC, tertiary escape and helicopter recovery. The unit connects installation evacuation with the wider offshore rescue process.
Practical training includes TEMPSC mustering and boarding, controlled water entry, helicopter rescue-device use, individual and group survival techniques and marine-liferaft boarding. Learners also practise immediate first-aid actions for injuries such as bleeding, burns, chemical exposure and heat or cold exposure until further medical assistance is available.

04 — OIS-72
Firefighting and Self Rescue — Digital Delivery
1 Hour 45 Minutes
Learners examine common offshore fire causes, the triangle of combustion, heat transfer and the use of firefighting media including water, foam, dry chemical, dry powder and CO₂. The unit also covers fixed fire and gas-detection systems and the actions required when a fire is discovered, with emphasis on raising the alarm, identifying available equipment and evacuating when required.
Practical exercises require learners to operate water or foam and CO₂ extinguishers against appropriate fire scenarios before progressing into self-rescue. Learners practise smoke-hood use and individual and group escape from environments where smoke or darkness reduces or completely obscures normal visibility.
Why the Rebreather EBS Pathway Matters
Train for the breathing system you may actually use offshore.
Product 5703 is built around the rebreather EBS pathway. Learners develop an understanding of the system, its operating duration, flotation dynamics and correct donning and operation before integrating EBS into helicopter emergency and underwater escape exercises.

EBS Technical Focus
Understand the system before you depend on it.
The EBS element develops an understanding of:
EBS operating principles
How the system provides emergency breathing capability.
Duration
Why the available breathing period must be understood.
Flotation Dynamics
How body orientation and the equipment interact in water.
Donning & Operation
How the EBS is correctly fitted, checked and operated.
The learner then progresses into practical use.
Experience how EBS behaves in the water.
Learners deploy, operate and breathe from the EBS in a controlled pool environment. The exercise specifically requires the learner to experience the positive and negative pressure effects created by body orientation in water.
This establishes familiarity before EBS is integrated into more demanding underwater helicopter escape exercises.

Suraksha Marine HUET Simulator
Train the escape in a controlled helicopter environment.
Product 5703 requires a HUET capable of reproducing representative offshore-helicopter escape conditions.
The trainer must provide at least four learner seats plus space for an instructor, a push-out window for each learner, representative window dimensions, controlled lowering onto and below the water, and the ability to rotate at least 180° in a controlled manner. It must also include an emergency stop or brake, rapid retrieval capability, representative helicopter seating and restraints, emergency learner-release arrangements and a nominated helicopter-style exit.

Push-Out Window Competence
Establish the exit skill before the final capsize exercise.
An important assessment detail within the Product Standard is that although push-out windows are fitted for the final capsize exercise, the learner's ability to push out the window is assessed during the partial-submersion exercise.
Demonstrate the exit action before adding the full inversion sequence.

Aviation Liferaft
The emergency continues after leaving the cabin.
Product 5703 includes both dry evacuation into an aviation liferaft and liferaft boarding from the water.
Learners understand the location, operation and use of aviation liferafts.

Why Suraksha Marine
Learn the knowledge first. Use the centre for competence.
At Suraksha Marine, Digital Delivery is treated as the beginning of the learning pathway—not the end. When learners arrive at the centre, the focus moves from online understanding into equipment familiarity, instructor demonstration, controlled simulation and observed practical performance.
Across helicopter escape, EBS, sea survival, first aid, firefighting and self-rescue, the objective is to help learners convert what they have learned online into practical actions that can be performed correctly under controlled emergency conditions.
Offshore Preparedness Begins Before the Flight
Product 5703 connects offshore safety knowledge, rebreather EBS operation, helicopter escape, survival and emergency response into one structured training pathway.
Learn Online. Train Practically. Demonstrate Competence.
