01 — Understand the Environment

Build awareness of the generic hazards associated with offshore oil and gas installations, the risks those hazards can create, and the controls used to reduce them.
02 — Prepare for the Journey Offshore

Develop familiarity with helicopter emergency procedures, safety equipment and the actions required when preparing for and responding to a simulated helicopter emergency.

03 — Survive Beyond the Escape
Practise sea-survival and emergency first-aid techniques so the response continues after leaving the aircraft or installation.

04 — Respond When Visibility Disappears
Use basic firefighting equipment and practise self-rescue techniques in restricted-visibility and simulated smoke-filled environments.

AIM
This training programme is designed to meet the initial offshore safety and emergency response training requirements for personnel new (or returning) to the offshore oil and gas industry in a tropical environment.
OBJECTIVES
The objectives of the Tropical BOSIET Training are that learners will be able to:

Identify the generic hazards which are specific to offshore oil and gas installations, potential risks associated with those hazards, and how controls are put in place to eliminate or reduce risks.

Identify key offshore related safety regulations and explain the basic safety management concepts

Demonstrate, in a simulated environment, that they can use the safety equipment, and follow procedures in preparing for, and during helicopter emergencies – with particular focus on escaping from a helicopter following ditching

Demonstrate sea survival and first aid techniques

Demonstrate that they can effectively use basic firefighting equipment, and practice self-rescue techniques in low visibility situations, including smoke-filled areas.
ACHIEVEMENT OF CERTIFICATION
To successfully achieve the Tropical Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training (T-BOSIET) Training the learners will need to complete the 4 mandatory units, Safety Induction, Sea Survival & Emergency First Aid, Fire Fighting & Self Rescue, Helicopter Safety & Escape
